Pressure washers can damage car paint if not used properly, says car expert Jan Heitzeer.
Such equipment should be used with caution, he said. If you act roughly, the paint will fade and you will have to restore it or repaint the car from scratch.
“To ensure that the high-pressure cleaner does not damage the paint of the car, it is necessary to spray water at an angle of 25-45 degrees from a distance of at least 30 centimeters,” explains Heitzeer.
Under pressure, the paint splits into layers, says the specialist. This usually happens when the car is poorly painted or has surface damage. Before washing, these defects must be corrected. Also, shampoo, pre-watered with a car body, can lead to clouding of the coating. This detergent contains alkali to remove oil stains.
