The head of the Dacia-Lada division, Denis Le Vot, said in an interview with Automotive News Europe that the new Duster will keep the four-wheel drive version, but add comfort, handling and functionality. In addition, the design of the car gets a serious update.

The Dacia-Lada head pointed out the differences between the new Duster and the promising Bigster crossover. The top executive noted that the Bigster will be more of a family “luggage” car, while the Duster will retain the useful features of an SUV.

Since Dacia will have two crossovers by the middle of the decade, the Duster’s dimensions will not change after the generation change – its length will not exceed 4.35 meters. However, it will be built on a different platform (CMF-B). It was previously reported that six modifications of the new Duster are planned for different markets.

The Renault Group believes that the change in the economic and political situation will benefit Dacia.

“The higher the inflation, the more people come to us from other brands and other segments”, says Danny Le Vot. The top manager thinks cars in Europe will become more expensive as stricter environmental and safety standards are introduced.

Renault’s original plan was to base the third-generation Dacia Duster and Lada Niva on the same platform, with both vehicles using similar technical solutions. After the well-known events, the prospects for Lada cars on the French CMF-B platform are vague, but work on new products continues.
