The new government car was designed with seriousness: BMW 750, Audi V8 and Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit were purchased as analogues for study.
However, it “didn’t go” quite quickly: the unstable situation in the country forced the use of a power unit from its predecessor.
But there were many differences, says Alexander Vinogradov, an expert in driving. The body was load-bearing and some outer panels were plastic. Both the front and rear suspension are independent. A digital diagnostic system was developed and installed, and in general the level of equipment with electronics was fundamentally new for the domestic automotive industry.
Interesting exterior, expensively finished and very interesting-looking interior… However, it all ended with the making of a few prototypes. The development of high-end cars in Russia will return only after 30 years.
We also remembered other projects, which could make our automotive industry look completely different…
