The control of drivers’ sobriety by traffic police inspectors on New Year’s holidays will be especially strict, roads will be checked by additional traffic police units. It gives information about TASS With reference to the Main Directorate of Road Safety (GUOBDD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“Collective inspections and special operations are being carried out to prevent traffic violations and detect drunk drivers,” the ministry said.

The publication notes that the patrol routes of the inspectors are close to crowded places: shopping centers, places of rest and entertainment, where traffic density increases, traffic jams and accidents are possible.

According to statistics, the rate of accidents involving drunk drivers has been declining in the last few years. Thus, for 11 months of 2022, 12,779 traffic accidents involving drunk drivers were recorded in Russia. Among them, 2,921 people died, 16,673 were injured.

Traffic police warned car owners not to risk their own and other people’s lives and not to drink and drive.
