Which connections in the motor must be lubricated?

1. Exhaust system gaskets

Exhaust system gaskets with fully serviceable contact surfaces usually do not require lubrication, and if the joint needs to be sealed, special ceramic pastes are used.

As for the fasteners of the exhaust system, an inexpensive copper lubricant will do. And only for lambda probes it makes sense to use a more expensive lubricant – ceramic.

2. ignition coils

The ends of the ignition coils sometimes stick very tightly to the insulators of the candles. This makes it difficult to remove the coils and sometimes breaks the tips. Therefore, it makes sense to use grease when installing new candles. You need to apply it quite a bit and so that it does not come into contact with the tip of the candle with the contact of the ignition coil.

It is best to use special silicone dielectric greases, but a small amount of the simpler silicone grease never caused failure in my experience, only made installation and disassembly easier.

3. Jets and glow plugs

There are special non-stick lubricants for installing injectors and glow plugs in the cylinder head of diesel engines. It is not worth saving on it, and there is no alternative to it. Do not forget that the unsuccessful disassembly of these nodes sometimes leads to the need to remove the cylinder head.

4. Spark plugs

The non-stick lubricant is applied directly to the spark plug threads. Its use makes it easier to unscrew the candle after prolonged use, and also protects the thread itself from corrosion.

Alexey Revinexpert “Behind the wheel”:

– Lubricant for the threaded portion of the spark plugs really makes it easier to unscrew them the next time you replace them. Only it should not be, but special, high temperature. In addition, it can be copper or ceramic based. The latter is more expensive, but the effect, in my opinion, is the same.

Graphite grease should not be lubricated as it is not sufficiently refractory and the remains of the oil base may burn. However, if you are going to change the candles and it turns out that there is no special lubricant, it is quite possible to get by with improvised means.

It is enough to find a simple pencil with a low hardness lead. Rub the wire with a stylus and wrap the candle in place without resistance. And just as easily she turns off after a few years and many thousands of kilometers.

And it will be! A dangerous (and popular) misconception about car repairsThe easiest way to lubricate the threads of a candle is to rub it with a simple pencil of low hardness.
