Drivers driving on country roads were surprised to notice unusual metal structures resembling huge gantries hung with various equipment.
The explanation was quickly found: this is what automatic checkpoints for trucks look like.
Scales mounted directly in the carriageway determine the mass of the transported load. The truck driver only needs to slow down and drive slowly.
The cameras are able to determine the vehicle’s dimensions, length and speed, as well as identify the license plate. The readings are displayed on a large board. All data is summarized, processed and sent to an analytical center that tracks the movement of heavy vehicles.
If the axle load is not exceeded by more than 10%, the driver will be fined 1,000 rubles, and the legal entity for which the truck is registered – 100,000 rubles.
