To ensure that the traffic police inspectors do not suspect that you are drunk behind the wheel, you must not have:
- the smell of alcohol from the mouth;
- unstable posture and unsteady gait;
- speech disorders;
- a sharp change in the color of the skin of the face.
Otherwise, you will be sent for a medical examination, during which tests will show what and how much you drank even two days ago. Also consider the quality of alcohol – the lower it is, the longer you will not be able to drive.
In addition, if in an accident (even through no fault of yours) an excess of alcohol vapor is found in the air you exhale (0.16 milligrams of ethyl alcohol per liter of exhaled air is just over 0.3 ppm), you are directly responsible for the accident. In the event of an accident with victims, you are threatened with a criminal article with punishment no longer in the form of a settlement, but in a colony.
In short, alcohol for the driver is trouble, trouble and more trouble. This also applies to hangovers.
Expert from Za Rulem, the oldest and most authoritative automotive publication in Russia, Ilya Pimenov does not recommend driving at least until the middle of the next day after the party. Inspectors recommend not driving at all for a day, because tests in a medical institution will certainly show that you drank the day before.
Therefore, if you drank today, tomorrow it is better not to drive. Judge for yourself – not a single taxi will cost you 30 thousand rubles – this is the fine for drunk driving. And fines are by no means the only problem. You also await the eviction of the car, deprivation of rights for a period of 1.5 to 2 years and resumption of rights after the end of the sentence (article 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Putting another drunk behind the wheel of your car is also not an option, you get a similar punishment for that.
