According to the Autonet NTI, more than 130 bogus car-sharing sites have been created by scammers to steal data.
Instances of theft of accounts of car sharing owners will become more common in 2022. The websites of well-known car-sharing companies are copied, favorable conditions for non-existent promotions are posted and the victim is offered to create a login and password and to fill in the details of his car and driver’s license.
To interest users, attackers offer car-sharing rental prices below the market price. If the user meets all the conditions, the scammers not only get access to his data, but they can also steal shared cars for him.
Many of the fake sites have already been blocked by government agencies.
Experts attribute the growth of fraudulent plans in 2022 to a lack of auto parts, a shortage of cars and the inability to carry out previous fraudulent plans related to the banking segment due to the blocking of the SWIFT system.
