The crossover Volvo XC90 will be updated again and will remain on the assembly line at least until 2025. The newcomer EX90 is therefore not a replacement for the old man, but an addition.
Design
The electric crossover is distinguished by the absence of a radiator grille, retractable door handles and evolved optics. The EX90 is 84mm longer, 33mm wider and just 1mm longer in wheelbase. There is also a trunk in front, which made the “train” look more spacious.
Technic
Until now, only two-engine versions with 408 and 513 hp were offered. of. According to the new Volvo tradition, the maximum speed is limited to 180 km/h (although this is too much for an electric car from a power reserve point of view), acceleration to 100 km/h takes 5.9 and 4.9 s, respectively . The battery with a capacity of 111 kWh offers 580-585 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle.
- There is a one-pedal drive function, with recuperation: the EX90 effectively decelerates and stops when the accelerator pedal is released, without braking.
- If the electronics recognize a person or an animal in a closed car (by a motion sensor), the climate control is turned on and the car begins to actively attract the attention of the owner and bystanders.
- The adaptive cruise control uses 16 ultrasonic sensors, 8 cameras, 5 radars and lidar on the roof.
Interior
There are no reveals in the cabin: there are no physical keys at all, touch panels are getting bigger and bigger.
As if to justify the almost three-ton heavy and more than five meters long crossover (how much energy and materials are needed to produce it!) the Swedes describe environmentally friendly interior solutions. No leather is offered for the seats, only expensive fabric. The plastic parts are recycled materials. Wooden inserts – from wood after planned cutting.
Price
The starting price of new articles in Germany is 105,550 euros.
- The first model of the new Skywell brand, the ET5 crossover, pleased with non-trivial solutions.
- “Behind the wheel” can now be read in Telegram.
