Automakers are expressing concern about “China’s broken relations with the international community, as it has with Russia”, and are starting to rebuild supply chains. This will reduce dependence on Chinese spare parts production.

Volvo and Mazda in particular are already considering options to move production of some parts from China to other countries. Ford and General Motors increase production of auto parts in the US.

Honda is also looking at the possibility of reducing supply chain risks.

At the same time, car manufacturers want to keep production in China for the supply of products to the domestic market.
