Many modern cars have folding mirrors. It can be activated both with a button from the passenger compartment and when the car goes into alarm. You can also fold the mirrors manually. This option has many advantages, but it is better not to use it in winter.
If you manually fold the side mirrors, then you have to bypass the car, and if there is a lot of snow, then it is not very convenient. In addition, in the winter season, the mirrors are stained with dirt and chemical de-icing agents – you can get your hands dirty. Well, in the morning they should not be forgotten to return to the “work” position.
In some car models, the mirrors fold automatically when the central locking is activated. True, in winter this option begins to falter.
Ice or sleet regularly causes the protective caps of the mirrors to freeze. They are firmly fixed by the ice crust and delays occur when the electric motor is activated. Its use is fraught with damage to the mechanics of the electric drive.
In addition, ice can damage the paint when open. The accumulated ice plug between the movable body and the console often scratches the plastic and creates an area of increased production that interferes with the performance of the mount.
In general, in winter it is better to turn off the automatic folding mirrors function, and if it is not there, then less manual opening and closing of the mirrors.
