When the roads are icy, when the temperature drops below freezing after a meltdown, the greatest danger is represented by cars without stabilization systems, powerful rear-wheel drive sports cars, worn tires and trucks. Vitaly Kabyshev, the head instructor and head of the Stability Control Driving Academy, told socialbites.ca about this. He said that drivers of such cars should show more responsibility, and other road users should pay attention to them on the road.
“The most dangerous in such conditions are vehicles without stabilization systems or with faulty ones. First of all, this applies to rear-wheel drive vehicles, where the driver has to constantly deal with their unstable state. Front-wheel drive cars without a road stability system are dangerous because they allow you to develop a higher speed, ”Kabyshev explained to socialbites.ca.
This is especially true for domestic VAZ cars and old foreign cars that are not equipped with active safety systems. In addition, the expert gave an example that heavy and powerful cars such as the V8 engine and rear-wheel drive Dodge Charger or Challenger are dangerous on slippery surfaces.
“Unlike Canada and Scandinavia, it is not customary in Russia to replace trucks with winter tires because it is very expensive. I would stay away from such machines, ”Kabyshev stressed.
He also warned that the condition of the tires fitted to the vehicle becomes the most important factor when the road is covered with ice.
First of all, you should pay attention to the quality of the rubber and the degree of wear. The tread depth of a new tire is 8-10 mm, and when this parameter reaches 4-5 mm, it begins to lose all its properties. At this point, Kabyshev summarized, the small sipes were worn and the tire worked very poorly on ice and mud.
Former lawyer Sergei Radko said “socialbites.ca” about the procedure for issuing a fine for passing signs during a snowfall.
