Serial KrAZ for the post-apocalypse – it turned out that there was one (video)

The usual KrAZ cabin on the KrAZ-256B1-030 model was replaced with a lead capsule. Each of the walls consisted of two sheets of steel with lead in between. The bottom of the capsule was the thickest – there the thickness of the lead reached 3 cm, because the surface of the earth, littered with fragments of the reactor, emitted the greatest amount of radiation.

Side and rear visibility was provided by four mirrors – the car had no other glasses, except for a small windshield. The design of the truck, so that it could carry a three-ton capsule, had to be significantly strengthened, but in the end the engineers of the Kremenchug Automobile Plant, working in an extremely short time, succeeded.

The serial KrAZ after leaving the assembly line was sent to the experimental workshop, where it turned into KrAZ-256B1-030, and then went to the disaster area by rail. Drivers, unable to turn off the engine from the cab and breathing the air purified by the installation on the roof, worked for days in such machines to clear the wreckage.

After the work was completed, all KrAZ-256B1-030s were destroyed. But similar KrAZ trucks are still used – the video tells where exactly. Of course, I would like to have as few reasons as possible to use such a technique.
