Over the weekend, representatives of the Popular Front toured military units in the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, handing over cars and gifts to the fighters. Grandfather Frost from Veliky Ustyug led the festive procession. The correspondent of “Behind the wheel” was also present at the presentation.
Thousands of caring Russians donated money for the purchase of New Year’s gifts. The Popular Front bought the humanitarian cargo and military correspondents, actors, athletes, TV presenters and media representatives brought what was needed to the front line. For the New Year, more than 50 military units on the contact line will receive congratulations from the Russians.
Humanitarian cargo
Salons of cars are filled with gifts, but not quite ordinary ones. These are guns against drones, thermal imaging cameras, quadrocopters, tactical shooting headsets, medical kits and guitars signed by Alexander Sklyar, Garik Sukachev and Dmitry Pevtsov.
The hunters were especially pleased with the field baths, which were also included in the gift set.
But most importantly, of course, people’s donations managed to buy several dozen three-door Niv and UAZ pickups. Circumstances demanded such machines: simple, manoeuvrable, maintainable. Why the three-door Niva? One of the fighters answered this way: the base is shorter, the cross-country ability is better, they break less – such vehicles are more functional in the nWo conditions.
On the line of contact
Gift cars began to spread to “points”, the representative of “Behind the wheel” Stepan Kuzmenko, as part of a congratulatory brigade, went to military units on the outskirts of Donetsk. Together with him, as part of his brigade, Duma deputy Zhanna Ryabtseva and world boxing champion Denis Lebedev rode.
Stepan Kuzmenko, Deputy general manager of “Behind the wheel”:
— People are all tense, recently from the trenches, our help and mere attention gave tremendous support, it showed on the faces of the boys. But, of course, the situation there is not easy.
We were lucky that a thick fog was creeping in that day, the enemy’s combat drones didn’t fly much, but the next day, when we left, they tried firing at the assembly point. Luckily no one was there.
In addition to Santa Claus, there were several snow maidens in the New Year’s brigade. After returning from the frontline, where they cheered up the fighters, the girls went to military hospitals to visit our boys who are undergoing rehabilitation.
Our tires
We also remember that the Za Rulem publishing house, together with the Volksfront, collected used tires and money for their purchase for automotive equipment from the LPR and DPR units. Used – because for the same money you can buy more of them, and in the conditions of hostilities, broken roads, littered with fragments of shells, they still “walk” no more than 1-2 thousand kilometers.
The tires have already been bought and soon Stepan will go to the contact line again to hand them over to the drivers who transport our hunters. We know that car tires urgently need military units to perform both military and law enforcement duties in the territory of the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. They are also needed for ambulances and vehicles delivering humanitarian aid to residents of these regions.
