It seems that in the modern car market there is no alternative to Ladas and Chinese cars. But this is only if you do not look closely, the expert from Za Rulem, the oldest and most authoritative automotive publication in Russia, Alexander Vinogradov, is sure.
Parallel imports work, and thanks to this, any car from any country in the world is now available to us, which was not the case before. But a lot depends on the thickness of the wallet.
It is not so easy to study the many offers on the market today. Therefore, the expert found a great option for readers of “Behind the Wheel” who are looking for a reliable and inexpensive, but well-equipped crossover.
This one Mitsubishi Xpander – a cross between a crossover and a minivan, characterized by high ground clearance, comfortable dimensions and a spacious convertible interior.
The model was created for the Southeast Asian market and is produced in Indonesia, from where it is imported to Russia.
Mitsubishi Xpander is 4.5 meters long. That is, it is similar in size to kia sportage. But thanks to the shape of the body, the “Japanese” seems more practical.
The Xpander is equipped with two motor-box combinations to choose from. The first consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 105 hp. and mechanics. The second is from the same engine and variator.
As you might guess, the crossvan is front-wheel drive only, which saves money on maintenance. At the same time, the ground clearance is impressive – 205 mm.
You will not find expensive finishes in the cabin, but the interior looks very presentable. And there are three rows of seats. The design is not ultra-modern, but remember that we have a budget model (although it doesn’t look like it). For example, despite the possibility of starting the engine with a button, there is no climate control, but only a conventional air conditioning.
