There is no intention to reduce or lay off the workforce at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, Gov. Alexander Beglov said.
The employees will be involved in new projects, which will be carried out by AVTOVAZ in 2023.
“Together with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and AvtoVAZ, we have agreed to protect the interests of the staff. They will fully comply with those social guarantees that were present at this company. It is very important to us that two thousand jobs are fully preserved.” said the governor.
It was previously announced that AvtoVAZ will resume production at Nissan’s St. Petersburg plant in the second half of 2023. Chinese cars will be produced there, but under the Lada brand.
