AvtoVAZ president Maxim Sokolov said that the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg will produce sedans and crossovers under the Lada brand, but these will be Chinese cars.
“These will be Chinese cars – you shouldn’t make this an open secret. Although we are negotiating with many manufacturers in the South Asian region, we have made the greatest progress with the Chinese. It is too early to name specific companies. Or maybe it will be more than one company,” he clarified.
At the same time, the head of AvtoVAZ assured that Lada cars would be produced in those segments that would not compete with the products of the Volga Automobile Plant. The cars “will be modern, of high quality, with high consumer benefits and with the highest safety standards,” Sokolov stressed.
