On December 21, 2022, it will be exactly 10 years since the cost of car insurance for women in the European Union has increased, equal to the cost of insurance for men. Thus, the EU has abandoned the inequality between men and women in this matter.
Differentiation of the costs of policies by gender proved to be incompatible with European legislation on gender equality and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
Most importantly, the price of the policy for female drivers aged 17-18 years old increased – by 15-38%. After European insurers dropped “gender” cut-off coefficients, women’s insurance costs rose on average by 14%. And for men – decreased by 5%.
