The expansion of Chinese cars is becoming a threat to Russia, Maxim Sokolov said in an interview with Russia’s 24 TV channel. The share of Chinese car manufacturers in the Russian market has already grown from 8% to 25% this year and is expected to reach 30% next year.

This is a clear challenge for the Russian auto industry, because it is clear that Chinese cars cannot achieve high localization in a short time.

But the more they “eat” from the market, the less room for maneuver is left for our Russian manufacturers who make localized models.

But you need to understand that they provide work not only for themselves, but also for Russian enterprises engaged in the production of components. And this is more than 1.5 thousand enterprises, employing up to a million people.

The task of the Ministry of Industry and Trade is to support highly localized enterprises by establishing certain rules for regulating the market for Chinese cars, Maxim Sokolov believes.
