Engine and box
Mitsubishi has a proven atmospheric 2.4 and a CVT, which the Japanese brand knows a lot about. Haval offers a combination that is typical for many “Chinese”: a turbo engine with a pre-selective robot. The latter link is theoretically less reliable.
In addition, Outlander has already confirmed the source of the main units (you can read more about the strengths and weaknesses of this Japanese crossover here). And Dargo appeared on our market a little over six months ago, which is why the repair statistics on it are still very sparse.
In this competition, Mitsubishi achieves an unconditional victory.
Chassis settings
Until recently, almost all Chinese cars were scolded for the suspension. Now everything is different: Dargo was characterized by a good energy-intensive chassis, which allows you to actively “knock down” on the primer and rough terrain. Banks in corners are quite large, but the car handles adequately (you can read more about Dargo’s behavior on the road here).
The Outlander drives just as well. But if for a Japanese car this is not even a compliment, but rather the norm, then for a Chinese car it is a plus.
However, it is a tie.
Surprising fact: With Mitsubishi’s colossal four-wheel drive competence, Haval managed to overcome the imitation of diagonal suspension, but Outlander did not.
Design and equipment
The current (third) generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander is over ten years old. Despite a few updates, the car looks ordinary from the outside, but inside it looks dull and outdated. Therefore, with its non-trivial design, stylish interior, natural leather, Haval Dargo looks a lot better.
In addition, the Dargo lacks practical features, similar to what Skoda calls the Simply Clever philosophy. And in terms of multimedia systems, crossovers can not be placed side by side at all. The “Chinese” has excellent graphics, an extensive menu, many settings and quality of all-round cameras almost like on a home TV.
Between the interiors of Mitsubishi and Haval – the abyss in all respects. Outlander will appeal to only the most unpretentious motorists.
Warranty and prices
If you want confidence, now it is better to buy Chinese cars. Brands from the Celestial Empire do not go off the market and provide a long warranty. Mitsubishi has not officially announced his departure, only the suspension of activities. Spare parts are somehow imported, but who knows how long it will last.
In addition, Haval Dargo, which costs from 3 to 3.55 million rubles according to the official price list, is sold with discounts and various benefits. While the recommended retail price for Mitsubishi Outlander of the few left in stock is from 2.69 to 3.98 million rubles. Plus cheat dealers. So from a financial point of view, Haval is more profitable.
As it turns out, Dargo favors it again.
Who won?
What has been talked about for so long has come true. “Chinese” defeated “Japanese” with a score of 2:1.
It is of course impossible to draw a general conclusion for all other cars based on the results of one test. In addition, we have pushed one of the most modern models with a well-deserved veteran.
But let’s face it, there is a trend. The “Chinese” is increasingly preferred. And price is not the main reason.
