Electric vehicles will not become widespread in Russia until 2030. This was stated in an interview with the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov to the Russia-24 TV channel.

Sokolov said, “Because of certain geographical features, large areas of our country and therefore the distances between cities… I think that electric vehicles will not become widespread in our country in the coming years, at least until 2030.”

According to the top manager, electric vehicles, despite the difficulties, are in Moscow and St. Petersburg will be able to find a place for themselves in their regions as well as in big cities.

Earlier it was learned that AvtoVAZ has launched the first cycle of testing the e-Largus minibus. The prototype was brought to the test site of the factory near the village of Sosnovka, reported Publicly available Avtograd News on the social network VK. The cost of the electric version of the Lada Largus can be 20-30% higher than a car with an internal combustion engine (ICE).
