Today, 68 car models from 17 brands are officially represented on the Russian car market. And many more cars have been unofficially imported into Russia through parallel imports: the buyer can consider purchasing more than 500 models of 85 brands.
“From 74 marks we have “shrunk” to 17 formally. But the figures show that it is now really possible to buy 85 brands and 501 models on the market. Why? Because we have started actively developing so-called parallel imports. This is the importation of cars without the consent of the owners of these brands, ”- said the executive director of Avtostat Sergey Udalov.
In May, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Russian Federation approved the list of goods allowed for parallel imports, which includes Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Toyota and others.
At the same time, experts note that car dealerships are practically out of cars of European and American brands. But the number of representatives of the Chinese auto industry in Russia is growing rapidly.
