Question from the forum “Behind the wheel” – we answer them from time to time:
– Don’t you think there’s no point in testing new cars to check their driving performance: they all drive normally. Perhaps the emphasis should be on ergonomics and equipment?
Not all cars drive the same way. Almost every new test provides proof. Even if the previous generation’s car behaved well on the road, that doesn’t mean its successor will be just as flawless.
Take the Kia Ceed. Before restyling, all cars had independent rear suspension. After the update, cars with a 1.6 base engine are equipped with a regular semi-independent beam – handling has suffered as a result.
Before restyling, all Seeds had multi-link rear suspension. In the updated car, it was kept only for versions with a turbo engine and a robot. On machines with naturally aspirated engines, a simpler suspension is now installed – with an elastic crossbar.
There are many such examples, including one of the most recent tests. Therefore, we will continue to evaluate new cars for all consumer properties.
