The GPM-54 tracked armored fire engine was developed in the mid-1970s on the basis of the T-54 tank.

Instead of a tower, a 9000 liter tank was placed, a container for a foam concentrate was placed nearby. The water jet from the fire monitor reached 60 meters, the foam – about 40 meters.

The tank was also equipped with bulldozing equipment. Such a machine could work in areas contaminated with radioactive or highly toxic substances.

A similar technique was used at Baikonur and Chernobyl, and was also used to extinguish wildfires.
