Most often, snow bikes are obtained from an enduro or motocross bike – by replacing the front wheel with a ski, and the rear wheel with a track module. There are both elegant factory solutions and hard homemade products. Everything would be fine, but there are enough disadvantages of such transport: a large length (difficult to transport), low maneuverability and high weight (about 150-170 kg).
The Bullfinch 2500 is very similar to regular snow bikes, but everything is different. The first feature is that the track is not “attached” to the rear, but rather pushed into the dimensions of the bike, almost touching the back of the ski. This became possible because the Bullfinch was not converted from a regular motorcycle, but was immediately designed as a snow bike.
In addition, a second feature helped make it so compact (and light – about 120 kg) – its electrical nature. Yes, it’s an electric train! The engine nominally develops only a few horsepower, but at peak it turns out much more. The battery lasts 1.5-2 hours in normal driving and 40 minutes in sport mode.
