There can be many reasons for dizziness during transportation, but most often a person gets motion sickness while driving on mountain roads. If it gets bad even in a stationary traffic jam, it’s most likely due to a lack of oxygen, said otolaryngologist Vladimir Zaitsev.
“When the car gets hot or stuffy, the air is gasified (because of the exhaust fumes from other cars. — Remark. ed.), there is not enough oxygen, then the ventilation of the brain deteriorates and the person is in a state of hypoxia. This causes motion sickness, i.e. dizziness, discomfort and unsteady walking when exiting the car,” the doctor explained.
At the same time, he warned against the use of drugs against motion sickness for those who are driving – you can drink such pills only if you are a passenger. But for drivers, the best option would be to slightly open the window and provide fresh air in the cabin. If this does not help, you should drive off the road to the side of the road, get some air and walk around a bit.
