In Russia, a technology has been developed for the production of a highly effective rubber complex modifier. This is an original addition to rubber asphalt concrete, which improves the performance of the road surface. Another plus is that secondary raw materials are actively used in production, they are the main element of the new product.
The press service of the development company LLC LLK-International (a subsidiary of Lukoil) reports that the rubber complex modifier RKM-2 is made on the basis of rubber granulate from recycled large tires. The maximum effect of using this modifier in asphalt is achieved when it is added to asphalt together with Roadliner MVNB-R bituminous binder. In addition, the components can be mixed directly at the asphalt concrete plant, which simplifies the process.
Rubber-asphalt concrete with the addition of RKM-2 and Roadliner MVNB-R can be used to cover high-traffic highways, highways and airport surfacing, the company says.
The coating has increased resistance to rutting, cracking, especially at low temperatures, and increased fatigue life. It is reported that control sections of rubber-asphalt concrete pavements are already being successfully operated on highways in the Nizhny Novgorod, Tula and Rostov regions.
