When we talk about comfort, we define it by scoring points for interior noise and softness.
Here are the top three in terms of comfort (smoothness and sound).
3rd place. Goodyear Efficient Grip 2 SUV
The tires showed the lowest rolling resistance and also proved to be the softest of all sets. At the same time, our experts have only minor comments about manageability. The interior sound and handling are so good that the overall comfort score is close to the maximum of 54 points.
2nd place. Nokian Hakka Blue 3 SUV
Nokian turned out to be even half a point more comfortable, as they showed a record level of internal noise. These tires also have drawbacks, the most important of which is not too high resistance to aquaplaning. But as soon as they hit the asphalt, albeit wet, they immediately show the best lateral grip. In addition, they are excellent cold weather brakes and generally work almost flawlessly.
1 place. Continental Premium Contact 6
In terms of comfort points – parity with Nokian: the same 54.5 points. Continental, in turn, took the best acoustic comfort. And in general, despite the propensity to aquaplaning, as expected, it turned out to be a long-recognized leader: on these tires the car has better braking characteristics and excellent handling. All in all, another win. That’s true, and the price of these tires is quite high!
Who is the leader?
Almost the same high comfort results (exactly 54 points) were shown by three other “competitors”: Cordiant Comfort 2 SUV Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K‑125 and Yokohama Geolandar CV G058 The same number of Cordiant Comfort 2 SUV tires (see above), which we indicated in the trinity of the most comfortable tires. Why did these people win? Again, because smoothness and low noise are important properties, but of course not everything is determined by them. And if the tires have other assets, you prefer that.
