MAN (part of the Volkswagen Group) has sold its assets to a Russian subsidiary. MAN Truck Chelny, the brand’s official dealer in Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny, took control of a 100% share in MAN’s Russian representative office.

Since 2011, MAN has been producing chassis for dump trucks and MAN TGS main tractors at a factory in St. Petersburg.

Volkswagen announced at the end of October that it wanted to sell Russian assets to MAN this year. The group also announced that during the year it would also sell the local assets of Scania, MAN’s competitor in the freight segment, and the activities of luxury car manufacturer Porsche.

Scania and MAN are prominent players in the Russian truck market. In 2021, a total of just over 100,000 medium and large trucks were sold in the Russian Federation, according to the Avtostat info portal.
