The remotorization experiment will only concern old cars, said the head of the region, Anton Alikhanov. That is, those cars whose exhaust is more harmful to the ecology of the region and a nuisance to residents.
But the cars participating in the experiment will continue to drive. In addition, they save money for their owners.
For example, the combustion engine is replaced by an electrical installation. This was discussed during the first meeting of the regional government’s working group on the development of electric transport.
“I think we will certainly experiment with this in Kaliningrad. Due to geography and history, we have quite a bit of the old European fleet. For example, if people were paid extra for handing in old cars in favor of eco-friendly cars, I think that would be interesting,” said the governor.
The proximity of the Kaliningrad region to other European countries forces the region to pay more attention to environmental issues. Recall that in them from 2035 the sale of cars with internal combustion engines will be completely banned.
“For us, the green agenda has gone nowhere. We believe that the Kaliningrad region is very attractive, including due to the environmental friendliness of life. We do not have large polluting industries. We have the sea, pine trees, beaches, lakes, rivers. That is why we not only want to maintain this image, but also take practical steps to reduce environmental pollution even further,” quotes RIA Novosti Alikhanov.
