48% of Russians planning to buy new summer tires for their cars this year are considering Russian-made tires, according to a survey by digital platform My Auto Service.
40% of car owners voted for European brands, while only 6% of Russians are willing to buy Chinese tyres.
Another 6% of respondents are willing to buy used tires. About two-thirds (69%) plan to use old summer tires in the new season. Only 27% will renew tire sets, another 4% of motorists have already bought tires.
40% know that prices for new imported tires have risen sharply, and one in five Russians noted that some brands of tires are in short supply.
Where to buy and change
40% do it in a specialized offline store, every third visits a car dealer, 20% of the respondents buy tires on marketplaces. At the same time, motorists are guided by the opinion of an adviser in a store – 29% and 26% are already prepared. Only 19% of respondents trust the opinion of friends or relatives.
27% of citizens change wheels themselves and 73% use tire repair services. At the same time, 46% of respondents postponed changing shoes until the end of April – beginning of May. Every fourth Russian expects to have time to change tires in the near future, and 15% have already replaced tires with summer tires.
The study, conducted in April 2022, included 1,230 car owners aged 18 and over from all regions of Russia living in cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.
