Let’s not be afraid of this word – the iconic GAZ-3111 Volga! The model barely appeared in public and caused an unprecedented stir, but also caused a lot of controversy. And it was not only in appearance – partly modern and partly focused on the classic GAZ-21, but also in design.
One of the odd, or rather, compromise, moments was the suspension. The design, of course, was not striking, but it was probably the subject of heated discussions at GAZ itself, and it caused contradictions among “ordinary users” in the management process, it was worth more or less driving the GAZ-3111 actively.
As Sergey Kanunnikov, an expert at Za Rulem, says: for the first time for GAZ, the front suspension was not a pivot, but a modern double lever, while an archaic bridge on springs remained at the rear. As a result, when driving, the rear of the car seemed to strive to catch up with the front all the time…
However, Sergey tells in detail about all the nuances of the design, operation, dynamics and shortest life of the last Volga in our new video.
