St. Petersburg residents have been warned about a married couple of auto scammers who operate mainly in the northern part of the city and pick areas without cameras for their fraudulent activities.
Mikhail Yanenko-Bazanov, head of the VSS working group, one of the leading managers of IC AlfaStrakhovanie, said that more than 40 accidents involving a married couple have been recorded in three years. The total loss from these accidents exceeds 8 million rubles.
The victim (usually the spouse) chooses a situation where the other driver fails to make a correct maneuver, often on a roundabout, and collides with him, even though he has the option of avoiding the accident. Since there are no surveillance cameras, the second driver is recognized as the perpetrator of the accident.
Car replacements use first-class used foreign cars that are expensive to repair, and the repair of which is expensive, especially in modern realities.
“Unfortunately, a large number of accidents, albeit caused by the same people, do not give insurance companies the opportunity to bring fraudsters to justice – there is no direct evidence,” Yanenko-Bazanov complained.
