The constant competition for buyers has led car manufacturers from China, the United States, Europe, Japan, Korea, India, Russia, Turkey and Vietnam to constantly improve their cars and release new generations.
In the study engine1,705 commercial models from 30 manufacturers were studied. As it turns out, not everyone is obsessed with updates. For example, Tesla produces the same cars as 8 years ago. And this is only second place in the ranking.
Two dates were taken for comparison: the beginning of December 2022 and the day when the car manufacturer introduced this or that model. Facelifts, restyling and other updates were not taken into account – only the emergence of new generations.
To date, the youngest car is the third-generation Chevrolet Montana, which was introduced last week. On the other side of the Lada Niva rating Legendintroduced in April 1977.
“As you would expect, Lada is the car manufacturer with the oldest product range. The average age of this Russian fashion line is 18.9 years. Despite the momentum given by former owner Renault in recent years, Lada has historically suffered from Russian bureaucracy, a lack of innovation and a heavy dependence on the local market.
Surprisingly, Tesla took second place. The company’s average model range is 7.8 years. The Tesla Model S was first introduced in March 2009, followed by the Model X in September 2015. The most recent car is the Model Y, which was introduced in March 2019 – almost 4 years ago.
Third place was taken by an Indian company Mahindra.
