The calculation made an estimate of the proportion of fatalities in traffic accidents and the seriousness of the consequences of the accident in relation to specific brands.
The ten most dangerous cars were Daewoo, Chevrolet, Renault, Chery, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Peugeot, Opel. The proportion of deaths involving such brands is the highest.
The share is calculated in relation to the total number of fatalities in accidents involving cars of these makes. Mortality statistics also include people who died in other cars and dead pedestrians.
The worst accidents happen with foreign cars such as: Mitsubishi, BMW, Chery, Toyota, Audi, Chevrolet, Mercedes and Honda.
In itself, we add that the statistics are rather strange, because it is clear that the severity of the consequences of an accident in the case of, say, a Toyota Yaris and a Toyota Land Cruiser will differ dramatically, everything else being equal. It would probably be better to collect such statistics by model rather than by brand. In any case, don’t blame the car manufacturers for all the problems.
