In a recent survey, the American company SlashGear asked American motorists what they consider to be the most useless feature of a car.
Of the 606 respondents, the vast majority (33.5%) said that paddle shifters are not really useful in most common everyday driving situations.
paddle shifters
Paddle shifters allow manual gear changes without having to engage the clutch. It sounds nice in theory, but the reality is that most people don’t use it at all..
Most cars are automatic already, and the little bit of extra performance you can get out of your car with this feature is simply unnecessary for the vast majority of people, other than novice street racers.
Automatic doors
Behind automatic car doors 23.6% of respondents voted. This cool feature is almost a status symbol, but in practice they are clunky and often slow to get in and out of. A simple hand tug makes the process much faster.
Sunroof
21.29% said they do not need a sunroof. When most cars have at least six windows, a seventh just to add a little overhead light doesn’t seem all that necessary.
Electric mirrors
Electric rear-view mirrors scored 15.18% of the anti-rating vote. Thanks to the electric drive, the driver does not have to open a window or get out of the car to adjust the mirror element, he just has to press a button in the cabin. However, some drivers find it takes forever to set with a knob compared to just spinning it by hand.
Dynamic control
This position scored 6.44%. The experts were surprised that it was even on the list, because it is really useful, especially for those who drive in harsh winter conditions. After all, this function increases the maneuverability of the car at low speeds and improves dynamics and stability while driving. Nevertheless, 6.44% think they absolutely don’t need it in most situations.
