The Scientific Center for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has issued instructions to police officers on how to behave on the road if a conflict arises. It also tells what to do if the driver aims the camera lens at the inspector.
“You must not point your finger or stick in the direction of a civilian or stand with your hands on your hips,” the methodological recommendations state.
The main super weapon of a traffic police officer in the fight against quarreling drivers will be courtesy and respect. For example, there are two ways to respond to aggression.
First, don’t respond to an angry comment with an angry comment. The second is to somewhat agree with the manipulator: “Yes, maybe due to fatigue (poor vision) I really did not notice, but this does not allow you to avoid responsibility for the offense committed.”
It is also suggested to use excessive politeness: “Dear, Igor Leonidovich, do me a favor …”.
“How can such an intelligent and reasonable person as you be tactless! Could you say that? – it is believed that such techniques should reduce the anger of a potential (or real) perpetrator.
