On the 2015 Mazda CX-5 crossover, I removed the wing mirror element to replace the gear (the disease of these machines).
When removing the plastic ball of the mirror element drive was broken off vertically. Given the current cost and lack of spare parts, I decided to repair it myself.
I drilled a hole with a diameter of 2 mm in the ball and its former base. I took a slightly larger self-tapping screw and cut it in length to 7-8 mm. I twisted one end into a ball and then the rest into the base.
Mirror adjustment has been fully restored.
