Insurance specialist Alexei Bondarev listed the types of cars and some brands that were most popular with car thieves in Russia in 2022.
According to Bondarev, Japanese and South Korean cars are the most commonly stolen.
“Usually crossovers of South Korean and Japanese brands are stolen. In the summer, most of the insured events with the risk of “hijacking” were registered with cars of the Hyundai (Santa Fe, Tucson, Creta), Kia (Sorento Prime), Mitsubishi (Outlander) brands,” said the expert.
The fact that spare parts from “unfriendly countries” are more difficult to obtain has also influenced the preferences of criminals. With every car at gunpoint, Bondarev is sure.
