I didn’t even have time to answer a passerby’s sentence. Not my car. But it’s fun, what’s up. It goes without saying that people congratulate you on buying a new car.
The Haval F7 has not previously complained about the lack of demand: 12 thousand cars sold in 2021 and third among all “Chinese”. And if you add 10 thousand “compartment” modifications of the F7x, then it will be the first, in this case Chery Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 4 are lagging behind.
What changed?
Gone are the days when you had to step into the cabin of a Chinese car wearing a gas mask. Although there are still funny miscalculations – such as a skewed translation into Russian of the on-board computer menu or media system.
Climate control has now become dual-zone – but this is an option. Some functions were given to physical keys, but others – setting the temperature, heating and ventilation of the driver’s seat – are controlled only from the touchscreen. It’s inconvenient to do it on the go.
But these are all nuances that you can get used to.
Restyling F7: the grille, bumpers and optics have changed.
How does it drive?
There are no fundamental changes in the technology, but they have clearly worked on the throttle and robot settings. Gear of the pre-styling F7 with a two-liter turbo engine with a power of 190 hp with. made no impression. But now the car drives!
Of course, this is not a Tiguan with a two-litre engine – in all modes there are some delays in pedal response, but overall not bad. Haval accelerates loudly but cheerfully.
Yet the appetite is more modest, otherwise nine liters on the highway and 14 in the city is a bit much.
I would also take care of the management. In a straight line, F7 goes confidently, but a small turn – and the electric amplifier completely deprives feedback. The effort does not change depending on how far the steering wheel is turned, and the car reacts itself with a delay.
He dislikes Haval and sharp maneuvers – a body running relative to the rear axle adds to the delayed reactions. The movements are horizontal, so it is not a question of shock absorbers with springs. I think you have to conjure up the characteristics of the silent blocks of the rear levers and subframe.
After driving on a broken road, I even decided to check the air pressure in the tires – I sinned they were overinflated so it was too hard for small bumps. But the pressure is normal, which means it’s just a matter of calibrating the springs and shock absorbers. Well, at least F7 isn’t afraid of big potholes.
Under protection, or rather, under a felt boot, I measured 210 mm. If you put a metal shield, it will eat a few centimeters. But 190mm isn’t bad for a crossover.
Different off-road modes change the throttle and bucket characteristics, but I didn’t feel the difference between “snow” or “sand” for example. Driving experience is much more important!
Which source?
The main point is reliability. The declared resource of this unit is 280 thousand km. Real or not, life will tell. But cases of timing chain wear are already known – after 100-120 thousand km.
There is also a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 150 powers – it also works alone with a robot, although it is available not only with full, but also with front-wheel drive.
What did you not like?
Frankly annoying acoustic discomfort. Noise attacks from all sides. There are two rings of seals in the doorways, but it seems that the door or window is not closed. You can hear every passing car.
19-inch wheels hum even more. Even if you write off some of the howling on large studded tires 225/55 R19, you can not do without installing an additional “shumka”. In our comparative test for acoustic comfort, the F7 would have received barely more than seven out of ten points.
Sum up
Soundproofing is a problem. But there are few other serious complaints about the updated F7. Beautiful, well equipped. There are more arguments for than arguments against. But the sophistication and integrity of all the consumer qualities of the “Chinese” apparently still have to wait.
AND NOW – HUMPLEED!Along with the F7, the F7x cross-coupé has also been updated. The list of changes is the same: front and rear bumpers, optics and new options. A new “magmatic red” color is also available for the coupé. The main differences between the F7 and F7x are in the sloping roof. Leaning back is less comfortable and the head almost touches the ceiling – although there is plenty of legroom. And the trunk was pressed – “under the ceiling” things can not be loaded. |
