The production of armored ambulances was launched in record time at the enterprise of the state-owned company Rostec in Nizhny Novgorod – in just one and a half months instead of the usual twelve.
The heart of the car is a three-door SUV Lada Niva Legend. It is sawn and extended by almost a meter. This is enough to fit a bedridden patient and a medical worker in the car.
In addition, the car is equipped with armor. On the sides it protects against bullets, and from below – against mines. Armor – hardened steel 4.5 mm thick, according to NTV, which are not even collector’s cars. It can withstand shots from a distance of five meters.
This makes the machine 700 kg heavier. Masses are added by medical equipment.
In December, a few dozen such vehicles will go to the NWO area. The capacity of the Nizhny Novgorod plant allows the production of 50 armored ambulances per month, and their production is planned to be expanded in the future.
