The following instruction will be useful not only for beginners, but also for experienced ones: who knows, maybe you’ve been doing it wrong all along?! Says the expert “Behind the wheel” Mikhail Kolodochkin.

The correct sequence of actions is:

  • Connect the “plus” of the jumper cable to the “plus” of the donor battery and then to the “plus” of the discharged battery.
  • Connect the “minus” of the wire to the “minus” of the donor battery.
  • Connect the “minus” wire (from the other end) to the engine block to be started. It is best to pick up the eye to raise the power unit. But if there is no access to the “metal”, then connect the “cons” of the wire and the problematic battery.
  • Make sure the wires do not touch fan blades or other moving parts.
  • Try to start the engine. Happened? Disconnect the “minus” wires from the problem battery first, then from the donor battery. In the same order, remove the “pluses”.
  • Let the revived car drive, do not switch off after a short time. Find out what’s wrong with the battery.
  • If the car does not start immediately, wait 15-30 minutes to charge the problem battery.
