Maxim Sokolov again announced the date of the return of the ABS system (most likely from China) to Lada cars.
“In the course of 2023, the anti-lock braking system will return to the package. Now we are transferring the Vesta production from the Izhevsk site to Togliatti – the process is already at the final stage. The release of the renewed model, Vesta NG, should start in the spring of 2023 and the first test cars have already been assembled. In the fall – gasoline Largus. And on the Izhevsk site, we expect an experimental batch of the electric version – e-Largus, at the end of 2023.
Note that it is with the Largus family that the return of ABS to Lada cars is associated – if Grant and both Niva can be produced without this system, then this is impossible in the case of a licensed station wagon. Interestingly, in some interviews in September, Sokolov talked about ABS returning in early 2023, while unofficial sources indicated January-February 2023 as the likely production start date.
However, as we see, the Largus reboot is now only announced for the fall. Another important point: it follows from the above that the flagship model Lada Vesta NG will start rolling off the assembly line without an ABS system in the spring of 2023. It is already known that the cars will have a 90 hp engine and a manual gearbox.
Sokolov hopes to bring back the automatic transmission and ESC stability control system within 2024 and to have a new model in production by the end of it.
