For the first time in 2024, drivers will be able to drive on the road from St. Petersburg to Moscow and vice versa without traffic lights and intersections with other roads, Avtodor reports.
Travel time between the capitals will be reduced from six to five hours. All this will become a reality when they introduce a bypass of the city of Tver. The track will be gradually opened up, but the first cars will be driving on it in a year.
The first phase of bypassing the regional center will open in December 2023 (from the R-132 Golden Ring towards St. Petersburg). The remaining sections – in October 2024. Construction will cost 69 billion rubles. This is an estimated annual budget for an average region of central Russia.
