In California, a motorcyclist patiently waited his turn at a traffic light until a huge pickup truck flew right into his face.
As the motorcyclist stood, an SUV pulled to the left side of the road, trying to slip between the cars of the stream. The jeep’s maneuver ended badly: It hit the back of the pickup truck, which flew straight into the motorcycle, scattering the contents of the body like shrapnel. The jeep crashed into an embankment, overturned and caught fire.
Miraculously, the surviving motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries, as was the truck driver. The perpetrator of the accident turned out to have stolen an SUV an hour before the incident. The car caught fire before the driver could be pulled from the pile of twisted metal. The hijacker was taken to hospital by helicopter, but could not be rescued.
