On February 8, 2023, the debut of the new three-row crossover Toyota Grand Highlander will take place. It will be “sophisticated, spacious and powerful” as well as “the perfect travel vehicle”.
The novelty will occupy a niche between the usual Highlander, which also has three rows of seats, and the Sequoia-framed SUV. It turns out that this car will be an alternative agricultural cruiser 300.
The only teaser shared by Toyota shows the rear of the car, which has a unique design that bears no resemblance to the Highlander or Sequoia. Above the name logo, which is located between the taillights, is the logo “Toyota“. We’ve lightened the photo a bit so you can see the details better.
A “Hybrid Max” decal is pasted to the bottom of the tailgate, indicating that the crossover is equipped with a hybrid powertrain.
You don’t have to guess what kind of installation this is – in early 2022 Toyota introduced the new Crown Hybrid Max. Therefore, the hybrid setup is based on a 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. It is coupled to two electric motors.
The total power of the power plant is 344 hp, which is transmitted to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. By the way, it will be possible to change gears with paddle shifters.
The Grand Highlander is expected to be a more affordable counterpart to the Lexus TX, also arriving in 2023.
