KAMAZ PJSC will form a passenger division that will not be consolidated with the main activities of the group, said the company’s CEO Sergey Kogogin.
That is, it will effectively be a new type of business for the auto giant, which until now has mainly specialized in heavy trucks.
The light enterprise in question, if incorporated, will not affect KAMAZ’s financial performance.
KAMAZ produces trucks with a GVW of 14-40 tons and is not formally involved in the production of passenger cars. It does, however, participate in the implementation of two discussed projects in the passenger car industry.
For example, the car giant is providing all possible assistance to the Moskvich plant in the capital, which has just started production at the former Renault plant. Previously, KAMAZ announced its participation in the Kama-1 electric passenger car project, developed in collaboration with St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. In August 2021, the project was registered as Kama JSC.
Whether these or other brands will enter the new division has not yet been announced.
