Modern drivers should strive to extend the life of their existing vehicles rather than replace them with new ones. This approach will reduce the amount of waste from the automotive industry, says Monica Dernay, Head of Sustainability at BMW.
At the same time, she suggested thinking about the release of transformable models, when the design of the car is carried out taking into account replaceable components.
“We need new skills in the aftermarket and car design to be able to remove the seat and install a new one, or remove a worn seat and install a completely new one. Then the salon will look like new and the manufacturer will have a business model – in the end, the whole society will benefit,” – said the representative of the German automaker.
