Belarusians are going to make their own electric car, Gennady Svidersky, general manager of SZAO Belgium, recently shared this information.
The so-called “union” machine will be electric and located maximally at the Belgi company in Belarus. Our neighbors are going to invite AVTOVAZ as a project partner and use its developments in e-Largus.

– A “Union” car is possible, and the more such projects, the better for the market and the consumer. But so far everything is very vague. Will the Belarusians invite AVTOVAZ or choose another partner?
If you need to make a car in a short time, then you (conditionally) get something like a Moskvich, which is not exactly a Moskvich, but a JAC with the Moskvich decal. But electric, and the release is arranged relatively quickly.
If they’re going to master the production of something of their own, it’s a longer story.
Here’s Largus, it’s designed, but where are the body panels made for it? Stamped at AVTOVAZ. It makes no sense to make new stamps for a small volume and bring them to Belarus. These are the logistics costs. And what to fill with? Where to buy traction batteries? We don’t have them yet. Those produced in Russia are expensive. So they have to be imported from China. And so on. This comes with a price.
It is therefore necessary to calculate the entire business case. What to produce, in what volumes, at what price and how many cars can be sold at this price. Until now, this whole structure is not visible.
Although in principle I am in favor of any initiative aimed at organizing and localizing production.
