The Batmobile used in the 1989 Batman movie is on sale in the US. Michael Keaton drove it.
Despite its size, the Batmobile is equipped with a very modest electric motor, which can accelerate the car to just 50 km/h. As for the batteries, they have not been charged since 1993 and may need to be replaced.
This first Batmobile was designed by Julian Koldow and built by John Evans’ team at Pinewood Studios in England. The car has a fiberglass body. The front is reminiscent of the Prototype Daytona and features a huge central turbine.
Huge air intakes, batwing-style rear fenders, a long hood, a cockpit dome – all this is familiar to moviegoers.
There are three seats in the cabin, and the driver’s seat is behind the backs of the passengers and slightly higher. Most of the buttons on the dashboard no longer work, which can’t be said for the flamethrower – it’s quite usable.
This legendary car is for sale at the Classis Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, USA, and the price of the Batmobile is 1.5 million dollars, or more than 91 million rubles.
It was this car that played the main role in Tim Burton’s 1989 cult film.
